I've just finished repairing my guitar ... this is just a soundcheck to see how it sounds on Youtube.
The bridge transducer needed replacing after it developed a fault. The guitar incorporates a Fishman Prefix Pro Blend system and they're not cheap ... so, I decided to repair the guitar myself to offset the cost of the new transducer.
I will most probably have to upload a few soundchecks before I find the right combination of settings for Youtube.
Guitar - Admira model "Elena E"
Strings - Hybrid set comprising:-
Top E and B from a Savarez set
G - an 18/20 bronze wound guage 20
D A E - Augustine Blue High tension

  • Hi Micky, have u changed the action, sounds like slight buzz,at low E at A sharp,B, it could just be the capo, new strings?,but it sounds real sweet tho

    ,cheers Alan

  • TINMANschannel: #1: Well spotted! I lost about 0.008 inches (0.2032mm) off the height of the bridge saddle whilst effecting the repair. As you are most probably aware a classic style guitar with no truss rod relies entirely on string tension to set the curve of the neck. As the guitar had just been re-strung the strings were not up to concert tenstion - it takes a few days for the stretch potential to decrease. I set the action really low when I first got the guitar and is .... continued

  • Hi Micky,curious how did u lose height ?

this is a tip for repairing the saddle, and it works g8 run super glue along the base of saddle it must be all along the saddle so the contact is all along the pickup bar,u can build up as many layers as u need when dry file to suit ur needs, this is a g8 way to raise strings at the nut too, cheers Alan

  • TINMANschannel: #3: I replaced the original transducer with a different spec which was 0.008" thinner than the original. I took the same amount off the bridge section which supports the saddle. This is the second time that I've had to replace the transducer. I use a muted style of playing where the right hand rests on the saddle to mute the strings as and when required and the ingress of sweat etc over the last 18 months must have corroded the tiny solder joint. cont ....

  • TINMANschannel: #4: I did use the technique you suggested the last time I carried out the repair - however, it was pointed out to me that superglue, when set, forms cyanoacrylate ester which can have an adverse effect in certain electrolytic situations (enhanced by the chemicals contained in a dirt/sweat mixture). So. I tried to avoid the use of superglue on this occasion.

I'm still reading up on the subject and am open to new ideas and information.

    Many thanks for the input.

  • TINMANschannel: #2: currently 2.47mm bottom E and 2.2mm top E. I might have to switch to a higher tension set until I make a new bridge saddle. The guitar also requires re-fretting as the frets have been re-dressed a few times already and are now a little on the low side. I'm going to upload a new soundcheck sometime later on today and your comments would be most welcome.

    Regards, Michael
