where do u recommend STARTING? if u were just STARTING, what topic should we first study and learn?

I recommend getting your hands on a copy of the Genki textbook, workbook, and CDs. As far as learning Japanese, they are absolutely indispensable, especially from a self-studying point of view. Also, watch a lot of Japanese TV/Dramas. I can't recommend anime for learning Japanese, but you'll pick up a lot of slang and nuances from watching straight up TV. Plus, you'll get listening practice in if you're studying without a partner.

東洋語に慣れるまでけっこう時間がかかるが、慣れたらわりと楽に­なる。特に日本語の場合は、発音が易しくて文法もかなり論理的で­すね。それに中国語と違って漢字が少ない。

フランス人としても、フランス語は難しいと強く思ってますｗ

発音が勝手で、文法はランダムで・・・あまつさえ、活用とスペル­はごまんとある。

"例外は規則を裏付ける"という諺にぴったりですね、フランス語­はｗｗ
