very nice layout. Gorgeous locomotives. Question: was it common for the C&O to have a helper engine in front of the caboose like that? I am not too fond of the C&O history but do not recall ever seeing photos of that on any road.

@stixxx79 yes is was common to run helper in front of caboose on most railroads like this. Southern Pacific did it also. or they cut in a few cars in front of rear. depended on number of total cars in string. - Kent

@NW2300 yes, this layout has been in Model Railroader magazine a few years back. It might also be in current RMC.
