This is by far the most insane battle against Final Fantasy VIII's superboss Omega Weapon one can conceive of.
Once again, like in my other NO SEALS BROKEN Omega Weapon Challenge (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zdPONcoPP4M&feature=relmfu), I face Omega Weapon without having killed any of the bosses in Ultimecia's castle, which means that I cannot resort to any command other than the Attack command (even the Phoenix summon would not work if Selphie were to die). This time, however, I have further greatly boosted the unlikelihood of winning the fight by upgrading this already highly extreme challenge to a SOLO CHARACTER challenge (Selphie is the only character able to act in the course of the entire battle) and simultaneously to a NO GAME CONTROL challenge, which means that, as soon as Selphie inflicts herself with Berserk at the beginning of the battle, I am no longer capable of influencing the outcome of the battle in any possible way...

The battle relies heavily on real life luck insofar as all of the following criteria must be met:
-one has to be given enough turns (this is crucial because with Selphie's average attack damage of 9400 HP in this scenario it takes 124 turns to deplete Omega's 1,161,000 HP),
-Omega must not kill Selphie either with Terra Break or Light Pillar,
-Omega's 2nd Meteor spell must hit Selphie often enough to make her HP drop below 5000 (to trigger Auto-Potion)

As it took me some time to finally see all these criteria met, I started recording the battle only shortly before it begins and therefore display my character setup at the very end of the battle.
If you have any questions concerning this battle or Final Fantasy 8 in general, do not hesitate to pose them.;)

  • How did you max luck?

  • @chewybaws Basically, it is the Curse Spikes -> Dark Matter -> Luck Up Refining route, however, thanks to Chocobo World (this was played on the PC version(!)), Luck Ups and all other stat boosting items are rather easy to come by.

  • Incredible video.

Think it can be done under Level 100? (I mean in the PSX version where the character's level would be lower but Omega would still be LV100)

  • @chewybaws Yes, provided that one makes up for one's (Selphie's) lower level by using much more Power Ups. In fact, one's level is in itself an entirely meaningless variable in this battle, only some stats are of any importance at all, among them Strength, Luck and most importantly Speed.

  • @NEroNeRoNerON Good stuff I might have to give it a try, although it could be a pain to boost Luck (Str/Spd wouldn't take too long). Out of curiosity was this PC, console or emulator?

  • @chewybaws It was the PC version as are all my FF VIII and most of my FF VII videos.

  • @TheChesshawk Auto-Potion is triggered every time an enemy attack causes one’s HP to drop below 50% of one’s maximum HP. The Potion that is used by Auto-Potion is always the least powerful Potion in one’s inventory. So, if one has only X-Potions, Auto-Potion will use up only them. In order for Auto-Potion to be activated after most of Omega’s attacks, I simply had to adjust Selphie’s Spirit stat (82) to make sure her HP would drop below 50% of her MHP after Omega's Meteor spells.

  • Amazing. I never used things like Auto-Potion, but here you are using it to defeat Omega with one char. One question, how did you manipulate X-Potion every time? I thought it was random.

  • das ganze auch noch solo +_+ kranker typ^^

  • @karbon35 Actually, I did not do anything, it is Zell's default name in the German version...X)
