The problem with a lot of JRB stuff is that the accompaniment offers no help to the singer, in that it goes off completely and does its own thing, containing none of the melody. And the piano part to this song is extremely difficult - I'm doing SFANW in November and it's taken me weeks to learn it.
@splantiago I don't think anyone needs to prove themselves to you to be a critic. it's in your best interest to take this constructively. if you can't recognize your pitch problems, then you've got a larger issue. i'm not saying it's not a hard song....
@lyricbrilliance13 can i hear you sing? please sing the song better for me, or sing anything for me? Maybe you're just a critic, please show me your credentials then.
agree there; my range is so frustrating. I've got a 2 and a half octave vocal range in chest voice but most of it is low notes I'll never ever ever use speaking or singing. So I'm stuck with the seemingly neverending process of strengthening the higher "girly" registers to make them sound like normal voice....
umm there's no dynamic. at least not one that matched the intensity this song carries. the character wants to be free. he's too constrained and it comes across as whiney and petulant rather than desperate which he is. also he is flat in many parts and the piano makes many mistakes
Awesomely fantastic... only thing is that C... tenors are so lucky but then again us baritones and basses usually have stronger and prettier falsettos so take what you will
