Riding the South Shore Line (Chicago, South Shore & South Bend RR, Northern Indiana Commuter Transportation District/NICTD) through E 11th St in Michigan City, Indiana.
This is the last section of street-running on the last electric interurban railway in the country. The street trackage starts on the west side of town just past the Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore, and continues down the middle of two city streets, to the South Shore Line/NICTD/SouthShore Freight diesel and electric shops, yard and offices, with one intermediate stop in the downtown area on 11th St.
Speed through this section never quite gets above 25 mph, and local drivers are well-accustomed to trains running in the middle of the street. City, county and state leaders have been trying for decades to re-locate the interurban to off-street trackage on the north side of town, to no avail (so far!)
Enjoy!
That Was Great!! Thanks!

That's pretty cool to see. Is it weird that I was looking for people off on the side of the road who might be filming the train the whole time?? lol.

That's a neat video. This is the first video of a train running down a street from the perspective of the train that I've watched. Five stars.

@JLJ061:
I\ve never seen that happen, but I'll take your word for it.

@Strannik01 Not always. Sometime if the light's red and a train enters the circuit, it still has to stop until it turns green, then it will get the lineup.

@citytransportinfo
South Shore Trains have signal priority, so when it approaches an interesection, it automatically gets a green light.

What happens if the traffic signals change to red - does the train have to stop too? (like a streetcar)??
