My little brother was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes when he was 8. I was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes in February. I'm 18 and in college, so I'm still covered under my parent's health insurance, but one day I'll have to get my own health insurance and this will be a pre-existing condition - something I worry about all the time. check your facts before breaking out the Straw Man Internet Sarcasm. health insurance companies do not manufacture the device. a public option would have nothing to do with medtronic (for example) making an insulin pump. a government plan, like private health insurance if you're lucky enough to get it before diagnosis, helps at the stage of purchasing the device initially, for thousands of dollars, as well as the massive quantity of supplies and insulin needed to maintain its operation.

Imagine how terrible it would be if that pancreas were less efficient or, worse yet, non existent. Thank God price controls have allowed the existence and functionality of that belt. Oh wait, the people that made it just want to get rich and exploit people based on their pre-existing condition. Government has a genuine concern for our health and they will produce the machine out of the kindness of their own heart (riiiiiiighht....)
