I am a Vietnam Veteran. Drill sergeants explained the enemy could break anyone with torture. The Army asked us to endure torture and try not to give information to the enemy. Unlike WW2, the big difference between American and Vietnamese bodies made it almost impossible to escape. After I learned GIs were skinned alive, I packed a Colt 45 automatic pistol to kill myself in case I was captured; I knew I couldn't endure torture. Ask yourself, how would I hold up under torture.
