The Jodie Emery Show - September 8, 2011

Just back from a long weekend visit with Marc, Jodie reports that he has graduated his grade 12 GED course today, at a ceremony with cap and gown and a diploma, at the top of his class (and top 1% of Mississippi state!) at Yazoo City Federal Prison. Jodie also receives more gifts from Marc to warm her heart... and her head! September 10th marks one year since Marc was sentenced in federal court to 5 years, and Jodie explains the D.E.A.'s press release that admitted it was a political prosecution.

Wanna know why Marc is in jail?

Because he is the only person who cares enough to actually fight for legalization. And when he finally ends up getting arrested, none of us defended him.

The problem is, Marc was one of the few people willing to go to jail for his beliefs, unlike the rest of us who smoke in secret and in private, and then lie about it to our own friends and family.

Why aren't people protesting anymore? And why can't we start NOW!!

@InTheWakeOfSuffering First of all, we never lie or overcharge. People spend money with us because they want to -- no one is ever forced to buy anything. We have a very loving, welcoming environment and always have. And you obviously haven't been around in a long time. The store above ours has been gone since 2008, the cops raided that place, it had NOTHING to do with us, we never got along with them. We took over the lease up there and now it's a museum and a lounge. You've been gone years...

I am an American. I am not okay with Marc Emery being incarcerated here. Great video here....Jodie is spot on on various topics here. She is brilliant and should be among those who lead the world. I find it highly disturbing that a society can make a plant (nature) illegal and then lock someone in a cage for years. Isn't that a fascist system? What happened to the land of the free....the home of the brave?

Why whould you go and do something stupid liike that?That store uses it's customers and it is well known for ripping off its customers by lying to them and overcharging them.The Spirit Within(a store above Marc's) is afiliated with bikers.They even have a room up stairs with just a desk: throw your money on the table, you get your weed. being associated with those fucking heat score will get u busted I've been there and it's only a matter of time before they take them all to jail.
