Cine - 234 West Hancock Avenue

Located in the old Snow Tire Recap Plant building, Cine is one of Athens newest entertainment venues. The two-screen art house theater shows new films both foreign and domestic along with many timeless classics. The theater has also hosted many local film festivals. Since the 1940s this West Hancock building has served as a post office extension, car show room, and most recently the Snow Tire Recap plant before it housed Cine. Cine represents an excellent example of a rehabilitation project that utilizes a historic building. Cines owner went to great lengths during the rehabilitation, even retaining graffiti that commemorates the relationship that the building has to Athens skating scene. Skaters used to frequent a free park that once occupied the space where the Athens Chamber of Commerce building is now.
