  • I remember it well, worst place in Al Amarah apart from the REDS (pink palace, cimic house) Well its all a dump really

  • we took over from 3 Para at the stadium just at the end of the war. The accommodation was full of rubble and broken glass. A friend asked a Para "why didn't you clean all this up" and the Para replied "we're here to kill, not to clean". We didn't have an answer to that!

  • @tomo3666 yeh i recall hearing of it, another landrover misfortune.......if only they'd caught on and sent out warriors n charlies only we'd of lost a lot less than we did

  • @scatmav We lost 3 lads mate, all in one explosion. Pte Hewitt, Pte Spicer, and Lft Shearer. RIP to every single one of them.

  • @scatmav I remember that, the Para's and the Scotts took over us, we nearly killed a Para Capt when we held a set of mortar hatches open with road wheels cuz the door clips were broke! He was on an induction patrol when we went over a massive bump in the road, the road wheel went flying in to the back of the warrior and just missed him! We were of course, all pissing ourself's!

  • @tomo3666 yeh thats the one, cos we met them as they ended the tour and they just couldnt believe they lost 2 guys within 2 weeks of being on tour, their names were Lee Ellis and Richie holmes, RIP lads
