This is an unedited video of the Governing Board Meeting of the Academy of Arts and Minds Charter High School held on 28 July 2011 at 1:30 PM. This video commenced after the schedule start time of 1:30 PM. This is a Public Meeting and subject to the State of Florida Sunshine Laws so public display is not an issue. Due to the fact that YouTube only allows a maximum of 15 minute videos to be uploaded I had to break the video into 6 parts. You will see an overlap on the videos but I wanted to make certain that the video uploaded is exactly what transpired during the meeting. This is part 1 of 6.

During the meeting held by this same Governing Board on 14 July 2011, they decided to adjourn the meeting until they were able to secure a legal decision on whether videotaping of public meetings in Florida is allowed by law. Even though Florida State Statute 119, Public Records Law, the State of Florida Sunshine Laws are explicitly clear on the fact that videotaping by any citizen of any public meeting is authorized I did not upload any videos until the Governing Board secured a decision. I specifically requested that the Governing Board update me on the legal opinion they received so I could be prepared for the next meeting. They never sent me the legal update but during this meeting, 28 July 2011, they had their own videographer present which leads me to believe that they did in fact receive a legal opinion or became informed on the law and realized that videotaping is in fact authorized and legal. For the record, during the 14 July 2011, Governing Board meeting, I supplied the members of the Governing Board the information from the State of Florida Sunshine Law permitting videotaping at Public Meetings and also offered to give them a full, unedited copy of the recording at no charge to them or the school for their review and display as they wished.
