starting my newly acquired Johnson 140hp 1985 for the first time in years. Runs great just a bit Smokey because of extra oil in it. Starts easy and very reliable. It is mounted on a 17 foot seafarer half cabin and couldn't be happier with it.

  • Yeah, that is it. It is not going to help me if i knew anymore about the motor.

  • If you get me the numbers off the little plate on the transom mount i can tell you exactly what it is.

  • No can do, plate has been removed. But Comparing diagrams of the engines in that ear it is the closest too the 1985 model. And also all the parts purchased for it have been for a 1985 model which seems to fit quite well.

  • Well than.... What year would you think it is? it was sold to me as a 1985 model but have never really looked in to it.

  • Thats very good horsepower for a 4 cylinder, at least back in the 80's.

  • Do you have the engine manual?

you can upload to the Internet please

    urgent!

  • Introduced in 1985 and ran through til late 90`s , ocean runners were 60 degree block water cooled rectifier .

  • @Petterjunior ,I would like to see the hood? im positive they didnt make the butterfly hood like that one has until early 90s...?? [i mean 2 peice when i say that]..

  • Ocean runners were 60 degree block not 90 , I would say a mids eightys motor

  • Got news for ya rory.... Thats not a 1985 motor. Its an oceanrunner. much newer. Butterfly hood.
