Well, he arrived in NBA, and that's American... He didn't make himself eligible to be drafted by a Canadian team or by a Canadian league, did he?
And, of course, America is first and foremost the name of the whole continent.
If the continent had a different name, also the USA would have a different name...

@xanthic14 "America's" refers to North AND South America. As for the term "America". It stands for the USA. You tell me to go to wikipedia. But you should go and type in America in wiki and tell me what you get...two options, America's and USA.

@VolcardoReviewer Maybe you should check wikipedia or your elementary school book. The whole continent is called America or Americas. And Canada is America like Germany is Europe. Cristoforo Colombo arrived in America, Amerigo Vespucci arrived in America according to everyone, and nobody of them has ever even touched the USA. There could be in the future a state called United states of asia, but the continent is always asia. For the most of the world you're the united states of america.
