@Evilmonkey66699 - One thing I know about this puzzle is that there are two ways for it to develop.

An easier one (which is okay) and a harder one (impossible without a complete walkthrough).

The easier one is when both piles glow equally after taking x1, x2, x7, and x8 (and casting Jindak). In this case, one of these four cubes will be the correct one. You can try your luck blindly, or continue solving it.

But if one pile is brighter... just restore a saved game to reset the puzzle.

@AlexeiVoronin Yes, I loved the enchanter series and I did play Spellbreaker(I believe that was the final one, which also explained the end of Magic in the Zork series) but never finished it because of that damn cube room.May have to reinstall my copy of the lost treasures of infocom Cd's and give it another go

@Evilmonkey66699 - Have you played Spellbreaker? There is a puzzle there, that is probably the hardest ever seen in an Infocom game :)

There are 12 identical magic cubes in a room, one of them is the one you need and the rest are fake. You have only 3 attempts to find the right one, using only a simple magic detection spell. It's ultra-nasty.

im actually asking is

my map has word LAUNCH on top boxes stream and resivor can u sail boat here where does it go if u go north i see twisting passage and cave if u launch W from stream view LAND is by stream box meaning you sailed boat north? can this be done to cross instead opening the sluice gate and why there LAUNCH on N going tward caveand one west can u sail boat here anyone try or can be done

WOW 2qustions 1 i know u go UP chimney but UP do u crawl up the flue woulnt be larger down

2 i know there is a stream by the resavior and water cant be crossed unless u open the sluice gate

this is the N,S line of the lake connecting res S and resivor , the lake is square shaped, went side is a line its to small running N,S between stream and stream view w of stream view u  cant go can you cross here in boat between stream, stream view it says launch here and land
