I have a daughter with Downs Syndrome and couldn't be happier that Obama is on his way to the winning the election.

McCain doesn't even seem to realize the difference between Downs and other disabilities, as he mentioned twice in the 3rd debate that Palin knows so much about "Autism." His confusion shows his lack of understanding.

She did not cut funds for kids with special needs. Instead of getting the special olympics a new gymnasium, she spent that money on special education, which, in the long run, is more important than the special olympics. She has also done commercials in support of special olympics.

That's really impressive. With the types of depressing prognoses doctors spew out, many people with disabilities acquire learned helplessness. Pop culture only reinforces these stereotypes. This is a grievous injustice by society. It's discrimination pure and simple. I suffer from severe bipolar disorder. I know it's a different disability, but I have to fight discrimination as well.
