Beautiful nostalgia for Granadaland viewers. Lucy Meacock looks so young and yet old at the same time! And Carl Hawkins was actually one of Jon's best friends, so hardly a strenous task for interviewing! I was a kid when Pertwee was at The Liverpool Empire, wanted to go, but didn't get the chance alas :(

He recorded "Spearhead from Space" and "Doctor Who and The Silurians" in '69 and they were transmitted in January-February 1970.

Yes BROADTRAIN 1979. And recorded his first story in 1969! Actors often mis-remember things like this. Jon used to say - at his convention appearances - "I don't know the answer to that question. What is it?" and the audience would shout out the correct answer!

Jon started in Dr Who in 1969, was in the part until 1974. NZ restaurants have improved quite a lot since he was there in the 1980s. My great regret is that I didn't get to meet him in person in New Zealand.

true....but come came back for a few specials.I met him just a few times and he was very good with the public and fans.......i think he enjoyed life to the full.

the clip mightbe reloaded as it cut off at the end.Lucy now reads the national itv news at teatime on Sunday.
