Balakrishna Menon, aka Swami Chinmayananda, was the inspiration behind the Chinmaya mission. In one of the videos posted on youtube, Menon asks the question "How can there be a way of life without religion?". This video is an attempt to answer that question.

  • @chvartak Religion cannot explain how the human mind works, or how life evolved (instead has some laughable creation stories), how the Solar system formed, our galaxy and all the way till big bang. Science can, but when it gets to the big bang, it humbly accepts that it has no answer. But religion? It is so arrogant that it confidently pretends to have answers. It indulges in fantasy and exhorts its believers to have faith that fantasy is real.

  • @chvartak :

"Science can only speak in terms of probabilities and uncertainties - thats okay, if thats the best u can do - learn to accept its limitations."

It is the certainty of ignorance that makes people think they can know absolute objective truth without evidence. Science is not as arrogant. It's not a weakness, but our greatest strength. It's the ability to say "I don't know for sure" that allows us to find answers to problems. Saying "god did it" is a non-explanation. Not a 'why'.

  • Meditation is a skill. If you can master it. Still that mind. Stay independent from the thoughts that pass your mind. Be in that aware state of stillness. Perfect it! Walk that path and then if all that is said is false. You have the right to redicule it.

  • "Science is not as arrogant"

Science is infact more arrogant than spiritual seekers.

They are always out there to prove primitive thinking is backwards to modern science. Always out to find proof what the texts are saying is false. More than finding the pleasure in solving the problem, its out there to defy what the text says is absurd.

Look at the video you made. There is so much more you could have contributed to science while wasting time in making this video on a very learned man.

  • Thank you Nirmukta! Has Ramdev been exposed as well by you?

"Hinduism firmly asserts that there is NO creation"

Hahahahaha. Get the hell out of here with your revisionism, of course there is Hindu creationism, and before modern science that's all there was. It is only since Blavatsky and the later revisionists that the vedantists have jumped on the Hindu evolution bandwagon. This is the deception that Hindus use to muddle the conversation. Cherry pick to justify whatever you want.

"True religion is based on pure rational thinking."

    Nonsense.

  • @chvartak You are muddling metaphysics and science. But since you mentioned it, Hindu metaphysics is primitive. It is has fantasy land ideas like gunas, karma and Brahman. So there. If you think Hindu metaphysics is the only one that can tell "why", you are the kind of person that the video is talking about. People like you are so arrongant that you think you found answers to the "why". You don't. Nor do I. But I don't pretend that I do.

  • Hinduism firmly asserts that there is NO creation. Creation is impossible. Only apparent modification of one thing into another is possible. True religion is based on pure rational thinking. Basically, you have no idea of what religion is. Whatever your 'model' of religion is, I too disagree with it. Science can only speak in terms of probabilities and uncertainties - thats okay, if thats the best u can do - learn to accept its limitations.Science can at the most answer 'how' , but not 'why' .
