The Cobra Lily is an awesome plant. In a way, its more advanced than a standard pitcher plant. Those white parts you see at the 'head' of the plant are narrow and let a lot of light in. The fly doesnt realise there is no escape and just see's the light coming through, thinking its freedom.

So in the same way that a house fly tends to keep flying into your window trying to get out, the same happens with this plant except it usually ends up at the bottom in the trap.

Very impressive how it works as most of the fly's that Ive seen go into the head of the plant, despite the obvious escape route at the bottom where the 'tongue' sticks out, fly's rarely come out again.
