Does anybody know what piece of music plays at 3:05? What soundtrack is it from? Thanks!

Not only is this a seriously cut-down version of ST2, it's heavily sanitised. Why is the station empty? Well, the Marcuses are down on the planet, but... erm... *everyone else is dead*. And more.
The funny thing is I saw the original movie first as a kid (on TV) and apart from some of the more grisly scenes with the leech things they stuck in their ears, I wouldn't have known until I saw my uncle's copy on video- rated 15! Definitely not a movie for kiddies I'd agree now.

You're all critiquing something meant for children. Admit it, you know you drove your parents nuts listening and re-listening to these things as kids (I did). And you thought they were COOL!

The picture of David should have at least warranted a line in the story. I remember the book and record/cassette days. BOY does THIS seem dated. The Star Wars editions at least had R2-D2 beeping to turn the page. The "Communicator" sound was nothing like the real sound. Easy to tell where the money went in those days.

They Disneytised this movie!!!! They should've left it the fuck alone. This was nothing for the kids to watch or read about. When I first saw this movie when I was very young, I thought It was rated R. It was the best movie in the series.

*crickets*
Ok why on earth would anyone do this reading?
Also, there is currency in the universe, but the Federation doesn't use it internally as it's a free trade system. But they also must do business with currency based worlds as well.
if you didn't notice, they dramatically modify and shorten the story to fit it into the constraints of the medium.
