The Poem - This poet of the Tsong dynasty is so miserable. The wind sighs, a single swan passes over head and he is alone on the water in his skiff. If only he appreciated life in eleventh century China as much as I do. No loud cartoons on television, no music from the ice cream truck. Just the calls of many birds and the steady flow of the water clock.

Collins always seems to act against the majority of poetry. Instead of concentrating on the horrors of society, and the general injustice, he strips life down to various menial moments, the dinner table, the 'best cigarettes', and shows how the common events are as important as the epiphonic.

Clever done!! - I did not really get the political aspect of it.....as I sensed it was; I do not know that much about China; only the Norway is much worse; in China unwanted persons are shot by bullets, if I understand it correctly, in Norway they are destroyed by TIME......ten year, twenty year, thirty year; pressure pressure - than suicide; or better; chasing to murder!!
