This is a documentary entry for National History Day 2006/2007 created as a partner project. We're both in the 10th grade at Shorewood High School. The NHD theme for this year was "Triumph and Tragedy" - we chose China's One-Child Policy. We're hoping you'll watch, enjoy, and give us feedback. The project was researched over the last few months, and video edting took us about a week and a half in Windows Movie Maker. All videos/images were credited at the end (sorry for the quick scroll: it had to fit within the ten minute limit) and were used under NHD Fair Use guidelines.

One child policy - too much, too intrusive, certainly - but paradoxically not enough, because it still did not produce zero or negative growth, and this is what the entire world will come to sooner or later, whether we like it or not. Since it seems we can't quite do this voluntarily, we'll leave it up to Mother Nature. She won't be as kind.

I had a large family by choice and never took government money. How many children a family wishes to have is their business. If you want to only have one then so be it, but it isn't your right to tell me how many to have. There is much to say about whether the earth is over populated or not.

Ya, I will say that having children so that they can look after you when you reach old age is one of the most selfish and most coward reason. You have children because you love them !!!!!! Bringing in children into a poor, overcrowded shit holes is the greatest sin ever, they do not choose to be born, it was the parents who choose to bring them into this world !!!!

@walter0bz not looking for anyone to take care of me and loved both movies, still hell holes are generally made by the well-intentioned, control-freak do-gooders. I see it everyday because I live in one of those place frequently dubbed a "hell hole" but I don't buy into the craziness.
