This setup, without any steering, avoids any human interference. The fastest CAR wins the races. Or one could say that the carbuilder with the greatest technical skills wins the race.

what is the point in watching it run in circles. also its not safe for those people to be standing there. seems like a waist of money. go buy an rc airplane. that takes some real talent

If a friend of mine invited me to this, after about 15 minutes and 3 or 4 cars I would be like "um... can we go now, I have seen enough of this"

Well then dont call them cars. Tether racing pre-dates r/c by eons. And if you think its too simple for you, build one and go play, then talk. These guys accomplishments would impress you if you tried it.
Fine tuning a machine and making it go very fast is an art, thankfully not a lost one.

Tether betyder lina, band, eller liknande, som håller fast något. T.ex. ett hundkoppel eller linan till en linbil :-)

Aerodynamics are very important. The car is very narrow, long and sleek. The wheels are "inboard". The engine is completely covered as you don't need any cooling during this short run.

how can u call it remote controlled, it just goes round in a circle!!!, all u have control of is the throttle, what use is that!!! doh!!!!
