www.ProGuitarShop.com-The Xotic AC Booster or "Almost Clean" is part of a trio of boost pedals from Xotic Effects. This pedal can be used as a clean boost or an overdrive in one enclosure. Being the middle child is not hard for the Xotic AC Booster because it stands out as a versatile pedal, capable of a wide variety of guitar tones. Provided with over 20dB of clean transparent boost, you can beef up a low wattage amp or even add a touch more overdrive to an amp that sounds good on its own. Create warm tones using the two band active EQ with +/- 15dB for Bass and Treble. Active electronics means that you can either cut or boost each frequency, further adding to the versatility of the Xotic AC Booster.

  • Can someone tell the diferences between AC, RC and BB?

  • @112358miau Sure, from least gain to most is: RC, AC and BB. The RC is good for clean boost and low gain overdrive. The AC has more compression like the VOX AC series and the BB is more agressive like an old Marshall Blues Breaker.

  • Sounds like an AC30

  • I know that a lot of people have compared the AC Booster to a Tubescreamer - try them back to back because they sound quite different. The AC Booster has better eq controls and a smoother od than a TS but to each their own.

  • I think I just heard some Sex Pistols!

  • @proguitarshopdemos Would this work well with a JHS double barrel? I could use the AC boost just to roll up or down on treble and bass mainly.

  • could i use a distortion pedal on top of this?

  • Hi guys,

I use a Fender Jaguar and play rhythm for which I like a low gain overdrive but then I need a little boost for lead lines.

Therefore, for me, would you recommend the RC for rhythm and maybe an AC for boost?

  • @DarkAngelEU I like parts of the PGS shootout against... which ever pedal that was. I believe in those segments the gain and treble were turned down a bit. Then pushing the preamp or run into a second pedal could help making the tone smoother too.

  • this sounds like a soft version of something like the big muff, any tricks to get such soft distortion on that? ;p
