Artist Kenneth John of kenpaintings.com, paints the water in a landscape impression oil painting. This is a five minute clip of the full version landscape 102 which runs for 1 hour 35 minutes, a painting from start to finish, which is available at kenpaintings.com/DVD.   • Are you fully mixing the paint onto the palette knife, or are you using paint that has been moderately mixed on the palette so that it naturally gradates and swirls as you apply it? Either way, thanks for the tutorial. Nice use of impasto.

    usually leave the partially mixed paint, it vibrates in the painting better. but i do mix it throughly when it's important to have one solid color, like a plain sky with no clouds or something like that.
