Mario Kart Wii - June 2009, 1st Competition 1'51"886 (fmr. #4 EU)

June 01, 2009 - My first day highscore (set on June 01 at 11.39pm O_o) of the 27th Mario Kart Wii Nintendo Event (Competition 1 June 01-10, 2009).

*Splits* 37"427 - 37"274 - 37"185

This competition owns everyone who plays it. It's the pure evil.
You have to play a backwards time trial on Grumble Volcano with a vehicle limitation to karts only. Sounds crazy, but it becomes even better - Nintendo was successful to ban/remove the known GV glitch, but they failed in avoiding shortcuts at all :P

There is the possibility of a very difficult jump just after the first corner which saves about 3 seconds. The jump itself hadn't been that hard, but there are lots of fire pillars flowing out of the lava at exactly this point...

This score was #4 in the European Rankings and stayed in the Top10 for about 3 days. Here a screenshot:

Note that there already a NEW strategy was found again which allows laps of 33 seconds and lower. It's to use the second ramp (first one with boost pad) to jump leftwards over the gap and go to the SC spot directly. Unfortunately this is so hard, that I don't want to try to get a run with this strat ~_~

By the way I'm sorry for the blurrish video quality again, but that's a known problem between VHS tapes and the reddish screen color. I even used a new tape this time.

This is so cool! I like the tournaments where you do a course backwards, Nintendo should do this more often. I did the tournament of Mushroom Gorge backwards, :P, it was fun. Though the tournament of Mushrooms in Peach Beach was just evil, :P.
