You shouldn't use a CFL bulb in a fixture like this unless they are rated for that use. They'll overheat and burn out because there's no air movement to cool it.

I have a ceiling fan in my room, I have put 4 bulbs in it in the past 4 weeks (regular, not energy efficient). What could be wrong?

It sounds like it blew a transistor or a diode.

Ive had on burn out on me, i opened up the base only to find 4 componets black and burnt!!!

lucky this one didn't smoke or go in flames as some actually goes up in FLAMES!!!!

we have a cfl in the pole light on the putside of our house and that thing burns every nite and its lasted 3 years so far
