This is the parade in Red Square, devoted to the 71st anniversary of the Great October Socialist Revolution, 7 November 1988. Soviet leader Mikhail Gorbachev's reforms of Perestroika (restructuring) and Glasnost (openness) kicked into a higher gear in 1988, with widespread and rapid reforms occuring throughout the nation. These reforms would later have serious repercussions for the Eastern bloc, and indeed for the entire Soviet nation. This year's parade is perhaps the last time life and the overall situation in the Soviet Union appeared normal, before the total unravelling of the system that would begin during the next year. In contrast to the controversial domestic reforms going on in the USSR at this time, it was a time of unprecedented opnness, cultural exchange, and peace in resolving Cold War tensions. Presiding over the parade is Minister of Defense of the USSR, General of the Army; Dmitriy Yazov. Commanding the parade is commander of the Moscow Military District, General of the Army; Konstantin Kotchyetov. Music performed by the Moscow Military District Orchestra, directed by Major General; Nikolai Mikhailov.

I hope a request for you: could you tell me in Russian writing what is told to the troops when they are inspected? "здравствуйте товарищи..." and then?

  • @tobiasf1 Yazov says: Поздравляю Вас, 71-й годовщине Великой Октябрьской социалистической революции!

  • What are the songs that are played at 45:48 and 56:30?

  • @Sovietoad They are Russian revolutionary songs, but I don't know more than that.

  • Почему 117-й парад?

  • jeeze if we were still fighting the cold war it would be more fun. 9/11 wouldn't have happened

  • @MrSrgj Dear friend,Gorbachev is a history, but Russian Federation is reality and remain a Superpower, glory to the Great Russia !

  • @MrSrgj

    Absolutely agree with you!

Organization for the Protection of Human Rights, filed for Gorbachev in the World Court, treason in 1990.

  • You don't have the final part of the labor demonstration, or did you abridge it?

  • Gorbachev - a traitor to the motherland, he sucked dick Reagan and received the award a Darwin.

Soviet Russia does not exist, but Russian Federation still exists, and it still a Superpower! Hooray!

  • @taiyuan8nian Indeed that ''usefull'' idiot Gorbachev is the only ''Horror vision'' in this beautiful movie !!! If it hadn't been for that kind of fool and opportunist à la Jeltsin and Co perhaps the World wouldn't be in such despair and mess today under the Fascist/Imperialist US-Zionist boot !!!

  • this is car is chevrolet ? hahahahah
