One Man's Junk Is Another Man's Treasure...
You never know where you'll find inspiration. Projects of passion definately take on a life of their own and provide us with rewards that are immeasurable. Featured in the video is the work of local artist Vollis Simpson of Wilson NC and his impressive creations known as Whirligigs (pronounced Whirley Gigs). The town holds and annual Whirligig Festival every fall to celebrate these awesome works of interest.

Vollis Simpson is a true artist and has created not only these wonderful works to behold but has succeeded in completing quite a feat of engineering. Using scrape metal, discarded metal objects, trinkets, and junk he creates a fascinating wind fueled, windmill driven, gear laden, metal moving orchestra in a phenoma that must be seen to be appreciated. A beautiful and brilliantly painted metal windmill garden fashioned after carosels, airplanes, horse and buggies, and so many other things of wonder.

James Broadfoot is a fan of Mr. Simpson's Whirligigs so much that he was compelled to create this video and share the wonder and inspiration this hidden treasure offers. The Whirligigs are located on Whitaker Mill Road near the outskirts of Wilson NC.

Over the years Vollis Simpson and his Whirligigs have been feature in many newspapers and television news segments throughout the state of North Carolina. He makes his creations in sizes ranging from two feet tall to the size of a pine tree for private residents, citizens, businesses, and towns to use for creative display, decoration, and to be appreciated.
