UPDATE!!! Sorry guys, this seems not to work with newer versions of Firefox... I can try to find a new way to do this if you guys want, let me know! I'll do it if enough people want it.

No weird programs or websites! This is a video tutorial on how to exploit Firefox to download any (copyrighted or non-copyrighted) videos directly from Youtube, and also most other video sites that buffer videos. It's really easy to do once you get the hang of it, and you'll never have to worry at all about going to sketchy websites or downloading any potentially harmful or annoying add-ons.

Optional, helpful programs: Ccleaner, AVS Video Converter, Google Chrome

  • All right guys, this doesn't work with new Firefox (4.0 and up I think)

So if I get enough votes to do a new one, I'll find a way to do it. Also, if there's enough demand for anything else, I'll see what I can do

  • YOU ARE THE FUCKING MAN!!! ooppss sorry

  • @lonewiso Awkward... So far it's only been girls that call me that...

  • what if the video says copyrighted by WMG were sorry about that how can you get it into the cache

  • @BlackZero3579 If you can watch it, it's being cached somewhere. As long as the video is completely buffered, it's cached.

  • as long as the video you are trying to obtain was able to buffer completely, not having a steady internet connection shouldnt have any interference right? i havent tried your method yet but i do use a youtube downloader. i have a weak internet signal and with those programs, i have to restart my downloads.

  • @jouksta From what I've seen, I would guess that having a spotty connection won't cause the download to fail. I think that the file would be gradually downloaded on a bad connection.

  • Hi, I tried your method. It all goes well till i paste my cache from disk cache into C drive. but still although the video is getting buffered in original tab, none of the newly pasted cache grows in size. the cache simply refuses to grow in size. Also there are certain folder that appear automatically in cahe folder with designations like 1, 2, etc. Please help...

  • wait got it :)

  • Doesn't work it says the address doesn't work :/

  • thanks dude, that was great, i wished you had shortened it down to 15 seconds though a) open firefox, b) type about:cache, c) pick the file that's increasing in size d) save it on your desktop and rename

  • @MuikJuaggre - i just confirmed it. my laptop has windows 7 and google chrome. i wasnt able to find the specific cache file with mozilla. maybe its because im using the newest version. but anyways.... on google chrome, i found the cache file. it buffered up to 37,xxx kb and it actually disappears. i have a solid cable connection now directly from the modem. the file i was trying to stream is 57 minutes long. think you can figure out whats going on?
