I see this song as being released in 1962 and 1963, so I am not sure which. I just know it's a very lovely song! *If you are someone who objects to the use of this song or the image for copyright reasons please let me know and I will remove it.

This song is about a boy who is going steady with a girl and this second girl is a temptation to him. Any "disturbing" implications are coing form your own mind,

  • @greenpilgrim50 This was when our society was first telling us, that it was no longer acceptable to look for a mate that was under 18, if you were a single male that was over 18. Second, this has absolutely zero/nothing, to do with pedophiles. Pedophiles are men who prey are girls, that have NOT even started maturing. This song is about a man who had feelings for a "girl" who was physically blossoming into a woman, but realized that we as a society no longer found that acceptable.

  • @richardmumolo What a load of rubbish! In those days blokes referred to their girlfriends as "my little girl" regardless of what age they were. There are countless songs in which a bloke's byrd was called, "little girl." When my little girl is smiling, My girl (Otis Reading), Hello Little Girl (written by the Beatles)... My little girl could have been thirty!!! Paedophilia was not subject up for discussion. If you had mentioned it people would have avoided you.

  • Yes, I agree. The girl in question is 16 or 17. It could also just be another woman. That the singer calls "little girl." It's about infidelity and lust, not perviness.

  • The song is about a guy who's committed to one person and trying to resist his attraction to another. That's it!!!! That's all. Are you people nuts?! This song is NOT about pedophilia! Somebody just shoot me now.

  • love this song

  • i see some remarks on here by idiots who are saying this is a pedophile song. how ignorant and sick can they be! "little girl" is the same as calling your woman "baby" and nothing more! all people do these days is accuse others of being pedophiles by taking things out of context. they are sick and need to be locked away! they don't have a life obviously!

  • The second #1 single for songwriters Carole King and Gerry Goffin.

  • This is the number 1 song for the week I was born.

  • I CAN'T BEGIN TO UNDERSTAND WHY SOME PEOPLE CONFUSE THIS PLEASANT ,BEAUTIFUL SONG WITH THEIR STUPID IDEAS..BACK IN THE 50'S & 60'S, 99.9% OF THE MUSIC REFERRED TO ONE OF THE MOST BEAUTIFUL WORDS THAT IS NO LONGER USED TODAY..THAT WORD IS "LOVE"..MUSIC BACK THEN, HAD A MEANING ,UNLIKE THE CRAP SUNG TODAY THAT DEALS WITH HATE,SEX AND DOUBLE MEANINGS.DON'T JUDGE US FOR SOME THINGS YOU KNOW NOTHING ABOUT..

  • Get a grip folks - it is music, plane and simple. If you have a problem with your pedophile fantasies, take them to your therapist and leave us out of it

BTW - song release late 62 and was #1 on charts January 63
