Etching of Printed Circuit Boards by ElectrolysisMethods for etching of printed circuit boards have one essential need which is to remove metallized coating excess off the general area of the PCB, while retaining the desired laid on image.I'll show you an example of one very simple method of etching circuit boards, that includes the electrolysis method - transfer of one material to another, using materials at hand. What do we have? Water, citric acid. Pour 2 tablespoons of citric acid into the water, stir until the granules almost disappear. Now, what do we need? Virtually any supply source with consumption of 30-500 milliamps, any metal rod can be our "minus". So we connect it to a power source and put into the solution. The "plus" of the power source - to a small piece of board, for example. Put everything into the solution. At approximately 6 V of power consumption we have only 300 milliamps. What is happening? You can watch it yourself. The solution may be both with cold or warm water. So what do we get with this electrolysis method? Approximately 40 minutes later we see that all the excess copper remained on the rod. This method can be used to transfer one material to another, using not even copper, but something else, for example, silver plating of contacts.

  • Did you mean lemon with water and with the introduction of DC voltage for the cup

  • How about the 'metal rod' on the -ve?? would zinc be best??...like a zinc nail?

  • Russians are great!

  • What's the white powder??.....citric acid??

  • All u need is water. Salt and a 9 volt battery
