Written by a Harvard graduate, Thank God I'm Natural: The Ultimate Guide to Caring for and Maintaining Natural Hair is a must-read for any black woman who has suffered hair loss or breakage caused by relaxers — or has grown tired of spending thousands of dollars and her Saturday afternoons frying her kinky tresses into submission. Featuring the advice of celebrity stylists for Jill Scott, Lauryn Hill, and Erykah Badu (among others), Thank God I'm Natural offers up-to-date information — and a plethora of tips to help women break free from wigs, weaves, and damaging chemical processes. Thank God I'm Natural also highlights the perspectives of every day woman from all walks of life, as well, as the author's own personal experiences (both funny and sad) — working in corporate America with a kinky mane. While there is no shortage of information on this topic to be found on the Internet, Thank God I'm Natural is the most comprehensive natural hair guide on the market today, and the book black women need now more than ever before.
It's been a year and a month since my last relaxer! :)
I love my hair, it's healthier, people love my hair so much now, hair stylists/dressers are always like, "your hair's growing better and faster," or "what are you doing to your hair that's making it so healthy?" At church, people had me like mini lecture them on how to care for natural hair :) I felt so special. I'm never going to use a relaxer again! :)

I purchased this book after hearing Tia on a local radio station. I have learned a lot from reading her book. My hair is so much healthier!

I have been natural for at least 2 years now. I have done the big chop twice. I wore a relaxer for 5 years and grew tired of the process and wanted my natural wavy hair back. I love being natural again.

I'm natural sinds 1998. It was a choice for freedom. No more money and time wasted with hairdressers. More time to do worthwhile things i like. Especialy enjoying nature every time i want (swimming, hiking etc.) without having to thing about the time i needed to get my hair "in order".

Thank you for being so candid about your experience! Your book has changed my life! I have been comfortably natural for 2 years-since my BC. Keep spreading the message-you will reach someone who needs your advice!

I've been natural since 2007, but still did presses because I thought I needed my hair to look silky. I also wore a lot of braids. I moved to ATL last year, and realized that my press would NOT hold under the humidity. I tried a lot of stuff before I finally settled on a 2-strand twist. I love it so much, that now I've just started the process for Sista Locks. I love my hair, and my confidence is slowly rising. Thanks for all that you do for the natural community!
