Earl Strickland's Favorite Shot

Earl Strickland and Johnny Archer came by my place for a couple of hours on July 15, 2008, and we hit some balls around for a while. Toward the end of the evening I asked them both to show me their favorite shot... not a trick shot, or "artistic" shot, but a shot they might get in a game, that for most anyone else it would be a real challenge, but for them, they just love to see it.

Earl showed me this one: a backward cut on the 8 with monster draw and spin to get back up-table for the game ball. The first shot he had truly epic spin on the ball, and a stroke that only Earl can produce. The second time he did it perfectly.

@BibleBurnr yeah, a real riot, eh? I had heard that Johnny Archer was a real Mountain Dew addict, so I put in a big supply just for him. He drank a bunch while he was there, and on the way out he took the leftovers! By the way, Johnny's a really nice guy. Earl was on his best behavior too. We all had a great time!

How did you get in touch with such legends and Archer, Stickland and Varner?

Actually, their tour manager got in touch with me and asked if I would like to attend their exhibition when in San Diego, and I suggested a private party, just for me, and they went for it. How cool is that!

I love listening to Earl talk. He's hilarious, but can be a dick sometimes. That's what I like about him. I'm so jealous that you got to have them over as house guests to show you a few things.
