Hi all, this is a demonstration of the speed of the "iMica" computer which is powered by Aros.

It uses VmwAros v1.02 and makes a great little hobby computer. Please take a look at my site for more details and maybe view following Aros sites also.

  • Was you playing Jean Michel Jarre on purpose? lol

  • @landasn:

lol, sigh, the internet is confusing. ;-) no, I think didn't get you wrong, and no, 'hobby pc' is not an insult. I just had the feeling I cannot let the 'hobby pc' stand there all alone, there's more to AROS. :-D

    cheers, ro

  • Hey, Don't get me wrong I'd love to see the flair of Amiga brought back to the market. I've been watching AROS for some time now and playing with the VM.

I even got a friend interested enough to check out the VM off and on. His comment was, this is really cool, if they get a better browser and office suite, I'd consider using this as a primary OS.

It always makes me sad when someone takes the term hobby PC as an insult. Some of the most fun I've had is on hobby PCs.

  • @landasn:

hobby pc? maybe, but u might be surprised about the speed of development. commercial investment into the system has already begun, and there's more to come. it won't be long until AROS is usable for production. and I have the feeling there's an ARMY of people like me just waiting to use it - musicians, game coders (hardware 3d just arrived :-)), graphics artists, etc. from the good old days before the word "multimedia" was born and screwed it all up. ;-)

hi, yes, I think you can. haven't tried it, but I think it's just some program launched from WBStartup in Icaros Desktop (vmwaros), which you can replace after harddisc installation. the dock is not present/configured in the basic AROS nightly builds.

  • @landasn

Icaros is an AROS distro, both are open source.

    : )

  • It is already. Wanna join the development? Any help will be appreciated.

  • it has allways been open source. what i want to know is if you can replace that dock at the bottom.

  • This is a really fun hobby PC. Over time if people contribute this it could get seriously fun.

Will Icaros be Open Source or is it already?
