This video describes the mechanism of current conduction inside of a p-type respectively n-type semiconductor. Using aluminum as a dopant for a silicon crystal creates holes inside of the crystal structure. Additional conduction electrons are privided by dopants like phosphorus.

  • thanks......

can u upload animation of band theory,

atoms approach, splitting of energy level, fermi level, formation of conduction band and valance band.

    plzzzzzzzzzzz...............

  • @divya4414 Creating those animations takes more than just a few minutes. So some day I will tread quantum mechanical properties of matter, too. But that will be in the distant future - be patient.

Or make me an offer so that I will change my timetable.

  • what is the driving force for the electrons from n type to jump on p type at juction in p-n junction diode?

  • @roboticmehdi That's treated at another video of me called "P-N junction of a semiconductor diode". Have a look at my channel to watch the video.

  • really very useful vids... thank you man :D:D

  • great video!! Wish he talked about the equations that correspond to this mechanism as well as the temperature effects of this process. A mention of the Energy Band Gap theory would have clarified by the electrons jump from atom to atom. The electric field provides the energy to the electrons to perform this jump.

  • @roboticmehdi see it is called potential gradient.like if u insert a pipe between 2 buckets containing unequal quantity of water.the water will diffuse(i.e flow from high concentration to low) and stop when both buckets have equal water.Like wise electrons in n-type will diffuse into p-type due to unequal distribution of electrons
