This is an old Mirrlees- Blackstone engine, Diesel, made 1938 in Stamford England, she has just one cylinder and runs at 600 rpm and is rated at 22hp the type is an OP , I have never seen another one of these ,I was lead to belive thay were pumping engines designed to run for months without stopping,
she was in peices when I found her, so a none goa ( not for long ) I stripped the whole engine down and shot blasted her rebuilt her , painted her ( I had to buy a few new parts / so I went to the factory where she was built and sure enough the parts were there !! WOW !!! and so you see her Running

  • And ??? where did that come from ???

  • Hi Scot I have many photo's of it in all stages , but unsure of how to put it all together ,

and a little short of time at the moment, ( as regards the wine,! it's like living near a train line ! I never really noticed it before , by the way this engine can be started by air, if required, thanks for your interest ,Tim.

  • Hey, nice engine. What would the capacity be of an engine such as this? Cubic inches or litres? How much torque?

  • Hi ,MM not sure ? the piston was 7 " across when taken out , I believe cc's are a

relatively new term and in the days of this lady the power was expressed as Hours power !! , that's all I can tell you , Tim.

  • ( The reply should say Labour of love at the time )

  • Yes it was a labour of live at the time, but good therapy ,!! a great learning curb.

  • You did a bang up job; it seems to be perfect.

  • @timzhot 22 Hp. @ 600 RPM as you state; is 191.5 lbs.-ft. of torque; this is mathematical. If you tell me what the stroke is I can tell you what the M.E.P. is; Mean Effective Pressure.

  • koji model

  • lijepo

  • Women have a knack of saying totally gormless things.

  • @timzhot Use Windows Movie Maker to create a slide show. Check out the video of my two cylinder Feidong for an example. You really have a great looking engine there. I like the blocky shape of the Blackstone types. Do you know what is making all the gear whine? Is it just the timing gears?

  • how do you know if its going? when it starts getting really easy to turn and makes noises.

  • great stuff, a far cry from the engines that the now produce for trains and ships
