Not fire damage , just oil from the exhausts like Deltics always do.

@MAPFWH I'll take look & see what's possible for next year. North for sure this time. Got your next DVD ready for you to ho chap :-)

@ay76 I think so my good Sir.... Shall we venture North next time? Be nice to sample a Whistler across Ribblehead once more before I die. Perhaps a pair of Scottish twins to the Kyle...?

The side stains are oil streaks, They were there on the 8th as it brought the ECS into Doncaster. No fire damage was caused to the locomotive, rather it was lightly oil contaminated exhaust lagging that was smouldering due to a slightly perished oil drain hose not allowing full flow to the collector. Ergo it made the hot exhaust wrap flammable. See other users' images on here for engine room shots, it is clean. In a 4 hour turnaround, it pulled us back to Doncaster on time, good effort by all.

Thanks for sharing this clip. When we were sat waiting in the loop quite a few holiday makers in the adjoining caravan park were gathering wondering what the hell was on the front of the train. They seemed impressed when we eventually set off!!

Do you know when the next 'Devonian' is down and what are the times it gets into Paignton?
Some nice shots there, shame 22 didnt open up all the way, but i bet a 159 was probably up front, just like my trip on the Whizzo.
