http://www.vernissage.tv | The current exhibition Julie Mehretu: Grey Area at the Deutsche Guggenheim in Berlin is dedicated to the American artist Julie Mehretu. Julie Mehretu has been asked to realize a work for the Deutsche Guggenheims series of commissions that started in 1998 with James Rosenquist. The works of the suite of paintings she created for this project are of identical size and inspired by the city she has been working in during the process of their creation: Berlin.

  • @honorablegenius nothing taught by anyone is ever pointless. even a tribesman who has never known civilization can teach a valuable lesson to us "learned" people. tossing aside knowledge like you're doing is highly foolish.

  • @honorablegenius

What is Fine art or a Fine Artist in your estimation?

She does have a BA and MFA with Hons.

  • I saw her work this summer in july at the Guggenheim in NY. It's so impressive beautifull.A combination of abstract painting, architecture and graphics. It's a great artist and love the way she talks.

    Guy Lamensch

  • @honorablegenius Your joking, or you are a joke.. either way, you are of little or no useful consequence.

  • Amazing ... wow

  • Oh honorablegenius you seem a bit short sighted in your evaluation. I guess you would think that any fine art is worthless and meaningless; in that case maybe I can see your point for sometime I feel that way myself. On top of that one might say that all human endeavor is pointless and meaningless which it just may be. Most of it is in the grey area as not to much is pure black or pure white.

  • by grey area, perhaps you mean 'infrathin' .

Oh, and did you find the point to art? Please explain

  • honorablegenius.... you blow.

  • She and her art are in the grey area, because she is not a fine artist and her art is not fine art.

The knowledge she teaches is pointless and meaningless, because it's in the grey area.

  • Great Artist,

    Great painting!
