  • No one played a character in a mob setting but than he played Tony. Brando was great, Pacino, De Niro, James Caan, Ray Liotta all great of course. But Gandolfini as Tony Soprano was the greatest. His emotions, facial expressions, voice, attitude, swagger.. He blended so many elements into that role that were so real I can't tell the difference between the actor & the character, except the violence.

  • @Theburn77 saying the role was made for him doesn't give enough credit to Gandolfini. The role was written with no one in mind, and Gandolfini MADE it his own. He created Tony Soprano as much as David Chase did.

  • god, the interviewer is creepy.

  • James Gandolfini rocks! It will be a long time before a character comes along as great as Tony Soprano!

  • Very humble i love this guy

  • @ecclesiasticous I agree with you, but it could also be said from a viewpoint that "the role was made for him" because nobody else could have brought Tony Soprano to life like James Gandolfini did. Maybe that's only in hindsight, but I certainly don't think any other actor could have done it anywhere near justice.

  • @ecclesiasticous also Gandolfini read for the role TWICE - Ray Liota turned it down on two seperate occasions. chase was unaware of JG prior to audition, but said that he bought an intensity to the role that changed the feel of the pilot

  • I have never been able to stand it when they cut to the people in the crowd on this show. They look so star struck and honored and I don' t know why it bugs me so much but it does.

  • james clapping sounds like a headboard banging against the wall when 2 people are banging each other.

  • I like it how it goes when Jimmy claps with those massive hands of his, it goes flap flap flap flap flap...
