This was extra footage shot for a DIY kick boxing documentary - Unfortunately it wasn't used in the film, however I thought it would be worth putting together a quick edit and throwing a sample up of our trip to visit one of the few remaining Bokator masters in Cambodia. Bokator is the ancient form of Khmer Boxing, or predel serey. We visited the master teacher in the hope of learning more about the history of the sport. It was difficult without a translator, but the skill of the practitioners was impressive. Some of the oldest evidence of the martial art can be seen in temples at Angkor Wat - a deadly weapon they say has been used to kill tigers. If you have an interest in martial arts it is interesting to trace it's journey and development from India and China, into the South-East Asian regions - particular the region that is modern day Cambodia - obviously spanning over much more of the continent in earlier centuries. It was inspiring to see this ancient tradition being kept alive, despite many of the manuscripts and ancient knowledge being destroyed through the tragic civil war era.
@komphor Where is your proof? I'm not saying you're wrong, but I want to see your proof. Also, what humanitarian action has any of the krus you met in Cambodia who's done some of their own? To me, it just sounds like a bunch of jealous Cambodians. Always hating on each other instead of helping each other! But, if you can show me your proof, I will accept what you said. Until then, M. SKS is right. On a side note, I also think that the name Bokator is made up to. I have my doubts.

@megamunchit2008
I do not yat. I am only putting back words of the krus in Cambodia who can not use Internet and they say like that.
Tell me a humanitarian action that mister SKS made in Cambodia for the Khmers people ? Except for business with his bokator ?
Khmers in the countryside are furious with his bokator. Mister SKS is falsifying history of Khmer martial heritage. I am not the only one to think so and we have proofs. Mr SKS spoke about Hapkator two years ago for his bokator.

@komphor What are you yapping about? M. SKS is doing a good thing for his Khmer people. Just give those thoughts you have a rest.

You can have more informations with Khomyuth Teacher like Father of Rothana in Kla Hoh Club.
If you have money and time to lose, you can train in Bokator Academy and compare with Kla Hoh Club or others Khomnyth Clubs in Cambodia.
I do practise “Prodal serey”.
Good Stay in Phnom Penh.

@gomergilligan - Before, “bokator” videos were the only ones in Internet. Now, there are other videos that show Khmer Martial Art under another way.
I recognize these videos, for example " Khomyuth ", " Khmer Kbach Kun Boran " like Authentic Khmer Martial Art. I’m khmer, I know what is authentic khmer or not.
Many of old teachers of Khmer M. Art in Cambodia in the countryside are angry of M. SKS bokator. They know that bokator is not the original Khmer Martial Art. But they can not protest.

@gomergilligan - I have never listened in a detailed way who is Khmer Martial Art Teacher of M. SKS, the name of his teacher, the place where he learnt his bokator, how long he learnt this bokator, how many students learnt this bokator at the same time with M. SKS, etc....
Other krus answer in a natural way these questions.

@gomergilligan - I don’t think but I’m sure that M. SKS had never practised the authentic Khmer Martial Art. You can ask the same question to the referees of prodal serey. These referees call M. SKS, M. bokator. They laugh of him because they say that “bokator” is a thing created by M. SKS.

@komphor - Academy of Bokator - is that the one taught by San Kim Saen? If so, what do you think of him? Do you practice martial arts? I live in PP now.
