Technically Sonic never chose anyone, although he liked both Mina and Sally. Mina, who was already insecure about her relationship about Sonic because she never knew he liked her assumed that by Sonic kissing Sally the reason was because his heart was already in a commitment. She has stayed with Ash largely do to this assumption, and fear of failure.

ash was too serious for her tails.... idk he never really was like really in love just a lil its cute how they match up but i dont really have a fav sonic coupling cuz they all have ther own points of view and sometimes i feel sallys not right for sonic or tails shouldve never married mina or mina and sonic or sonamy so i dunno

but your forgeting the break up a year after mina saw sally and sonic kiss this almost killed ash and made sonic jealous. when ash was in the hospital sonic walked in and saw mina and ash kiss this made him cry and give up trying to impress her or loving her
