yup- all that's true- and you're right if you say the labour party should have done more- but what if they had tried to limit personal borrowing.... as for inflation..... largely a consquence of the bank of england attempting to deal with the banking collapse and the high unemployment rate... look on the upside though - it appears that Brown got a hell of a good deal on the banks- the gov. paid £2.60 for rbs shares- they're now worth £46- sweden made a fortune back when they did it.

@Bazanadu No it does not, if you take per-capita data, , but we are still in the shit with spiralling government and personal debt, a huge trade imbalance, low savings rate compared to Japan, and a higher inflation rate than any of the G7 economies. This country has been effectively taken over by inward buy-ups from America and the Middle-East. Our manufacturing base has been shattered over the last half century.

@racingrubberbiker It may surprise you to know that the national debt of the uk is actually lower than its major competitors... US, Japan, many eu states etc and the same as many others... Germany etc.... the British public were fooled.....
