Yes, it is too fast -- but only by a tad.
And I'm thrilled to find it here at all, so I'm gonna stfu about that, and just thank you, enriquevicsaa, for posting it here.
Wouldn't call it my very favorite AS track (tough call between "Last Day of June 1934" and the masterpiece "Roads to Moscow"), but it's up there.

I remember listening to this song over and over on my dads old kenwood record player back when I was kid (I'm 23 now). The pops and cracks just added to the already wonderful experience. I always told my parents I would trade our generations in a heartbeat.

Can't someone else upload this track PLAYED AT THE RIGHT SPEED?

It is definitely a tad too fast. I played Modern Times to death! Al can really paint a picture with his song-writing. Thanks for this great post!

Thank heaven for the Sixth Form Common Room at Spondon School, Derby. In 1975 I heard much of Modern Times and in my first year of college, 1976, in Hudderesfield I saw Al on the Old Grey Whistle Test playing "year of the cat." Loved him since and went into his back catalogue buying "Past Present Future" and "Orange" and "The Early Years." What a great artist. As far as I'm concerned he introduces a new music genre of rock folk. I also saw him perform live in Red Bank, NJ USA and 'twas great

This was his best song....
Most underrated artist of all time. And this isn't opinion, he really is.
