this choir is very messy. Their Sopranos Needed to practice a little more.. You need to practice on more than the epic parts. Half the time the sopranos werent even the same pitch... Good at some parts but overall it was ok...
I did enjoy this recornding. I sang this last semester with my college chamber singers, and loved it. The only thing i say about this recording is that the intro is too staccato-it needs to be more fluid, but thats just one opinion and interpretation. The best recording I've heard of this piece is by Polyphony.
Instead, we should listen to different musical interpretations so as to refine our own musicality and not be so arrogant to think that only our interpretation is correct. I believe that Eric Whitacre thinks the same way; if you would just read his blog, you could see how accepting he is of different interpretations of his songs.
The swallowing sound part, its quite obvious thats its due to the bad recording quality. As for the speed, I believe that people have different musical taste and preferences. As long as they stay true to the meaning of the song, we should learn to appreciate their musicality and not be so critical and try to impose our own musical taste upon them.

This is actually a VERY successful rendition of this piece. ESPECIALLY for a high school choir.
Eric Whitacre's work is not easy for anybody. But this group did quite a good job of it. I am very excited for this choir!
