Touhou-A-Live: Gatekeeper Redux 1: Deja Fu

Oy! It's been... quite some time, Hong.

So. Basically, Koki decided Gatekeeper wasn't up to the standard of all the other scenarios, so he decided to give it a rehaul while waiting on some other stuff to continue Fantasy Chapter. (He's getting on that now!) At the same time, I think he figured that certain elements of Fantasy Chapter and the "post-final" Treasure Chapter had next to no introduction in the previous chapters, so he included a bunch of that as well. It seems a bit wonky to do things that way, but...

I suppose in a way, Gatekeeper and Hourai are pretty much the only two scenarios set in places where all this worldbuilding stuff can fit, so eh, whatever. ANYWAY.

Like how the map switches up "Village," "Town," and "City" for the human villages? Despite there being no such distinctions in Japanese? Koki, you wacky. (Yes, the map was already in English. ...Well, I had to correct some Engrish. Like "Scarlet's House," and "Apparition's Mountain," and "Meiren" - seriously, S kept making that mistake in TMR, too...)

Apparently Kickring Combo is the Japanese name for a Hong combo in UNL. Except... from what I can tell, it's just alternating A and B...? Truly, I do not understand fighting games.

Huh, one or two of Kasen's moves sound... I dunno, familiar somehow? I'm sure it's nothing. Fist Rockbone! Punch Sideiron! Gristle McThornbody!

I do hope the flashbacks of Meiling and her master are still in the story. The idea of adding Kasen was just brillient; whom better to help Meiling remember her abilitys and get back into her prime? I'm very happy to see more Touhou-A-Live; will the other chapters get updates as well?

@Shadow9808 The next video gets to the same stuff as the original, and the flashbacks are untouched. As for other remakes, probably not. It's just that this scenario didn't have much meat to it before; Meiling ran around to three places, then revisited those three places several times, had some flashbacks in the process, and then boss fight. All the others were much longer and had more story to them (except Ice Fairy, but that's just how the original chapter was).

Regardless of how much the story changes, I'll always know it as the "Collect Cure Grass" chapter.

@snowyarticuno I believe it's outrageously Australian slang, and I shamelessly adopted it from the Mother 3 translation because it was additionally jokey in this context. I've never actually heard it used.
