I think he is testing a class D amp unless he is just putting square wave at the input. Class D amp work pwm in which triangle and the ac input is mixed in a scotchky comparator to produce square wave. It more elaborate than that but is the basic idea. The average of the two wave result in a pulse width modulated output.

What did the scope show? Did it mean the square waves where good and the two horizontal lines were a fault?
