After Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart
Freely adapted by
Peter Brook, Franck Krawczyk and Marie-Hélène Estienne
"Absolutely bewitching" The Independent
"A strangely beautiful and moving piece of theatre" Telegraph.co.uk
Visionary director Peter Brook reimagines Mozart's The Magic Flute with his long-term collaborator Marie-Hélène Estienne. The result is A Magic Flute, an opera of clarity, simplicity and purity that seeks out the truth of the original. Nine singers and actors along with a glorious piano accompaniment produce a musical comedy that perfectly realises Brook's ambition: to create "a light effervescent Flute, where an intimacy with the performers [allows] the tenderness and the depth of the score to appear".
A Magic Flute won France's prestigious Molière Award for Best Musical Theatre in 2011, and played to packed houses in Europe as well as North and South America.

http://www.hk.artsfestival.org/tc/prog/11
