  • @shufaify The titles, tempo, and "80's sound" are probably what make them seem similar to me. I've listened to both of them many times over the decades and often find myself switching back and forth when trying to hum the tune to just one of them. Faulty brain connection perhaps; it wouldn't be the first.

  • @ral1334 It would be impossible for Steve Taylor to have been inspired by Roxy Music's song Avalon... the album Avalon is on ("Heart Still Beating") came out in 1990, while Steve Taylor's I Predict 1990 came out in 1987. :)

  • visual and musical masterpiece!!

  • Looks like Coverdale.

  • This must have been at least partially inspired by Roxy Music's "Avalon". It's very similar.

  • Awesome SONG! All about The USA corrupted in its core now! As Was Prophesied about it/her! Cannot wait to say GOOD BYE forever! to all the corruption and degregation inside of its' walls.. Shalom, A True KingdomWarrior

  • Steve was more of the eccentric artists of the time so this song wasnt one of my faovirtes the vidoe is intrguing. It was during an era where musicvideos where still young and being experimented with too so interesting to see what he did here.

  • This music video always flummoxes me. The song seems so... normal. But the visuals are goofy. Is there one particular video that he's mocking?

  • You know, if you're familiar with the role that the nation Babylon played in the Old Testament, then this song takes on added significance. As I recall, Steve is the son of a preacher, and has himself had a fair amount of theological education. Much of his music, like this song, interpret modern living through the prism of biblical history.

  • I love this song.
