(silent movie) Steam trains operating on the NYNH&H, NYC, C&O, PRR, NKP, Erie, L&N, GN, UP, T&P and ATSF railroads during the 1940's & 50's. Filmed by Carl Dudley for Blackhawk Films.
I was working in the round house at the Sante Fe Railroad in the early 1950's as a machinist apprentice and the old mechanics didnot like the diesels that were coming on line. Mechanics worked on steam with a tape measure, now with diesel they had to use a micrometer. It was a shock.
May Steam Live Forever! It would be a sight to see all surviving steamers in full time operation again! I miss these sleek beautys. They are never forgotten! May you rise from the ashes and show america that it is nothing without you!
